The LA Times sports page has a page 1 cactus league preview this morning, noting that all games are in Phoenix (no Tempe games) this Spring. I link to the LAT web-site (hjemme side), but I get the paper.
What strikes me is the lack of football coverage - at last. The beginning of football season always makes me sad, as football coverage tends to outweigh baseball, even though way more baseball tickets are sold over the - admittedly - longer season. The truth is, that football coverage in the LAT tends to be much more dense (in so many ways) and crowds out even the World Series coverage.
But I digress, my point is it strikes me that the season is on the verge of beginning and Phoenix is only 5 hours away.
Also, Plaschke makes a nice note about visiting Dodger Stadium when it is empty. A point I consciously have not made before but which, given his public forum, it might be smart to make just to keep the Dodgers ownership on notice that any changes to the centerpiece of this town ill be subject to scrutiny.

After seeing a close buddy going trough a difficult moment due to a sickness caused through using tobacco I made it my personal mission to rescue as much other folks as is possible from the exact same destiny, but shortly I realized that no matter how good your arguments are it is almost impossible to make a smoker quit smoking, not because the arguments aren't sufficiently good and not necessarily because the smoker is just not willing to stop but simply due to the fact nicotine is a even more addictive drug than heroin and cocaine (scientifically confirmed).
I Then learned that there is in fact a way to stop smoking without quitting smoking, thus allow the smoker his / her pleasure and also habit but save him from the dangerous effects of cigarettes.
The Things I am referring to are electronic cigarettes. Read about all of the negative effects of smoking and how a [deleted by Mod.] electronic cigarette[/url] could help you quite smoking cigarettes or just allow you to follow your current habit and acquire your kick without the damaging negative effects associated with cigarettes on my web site [Deleted by Mod]
P.S. I hope this will not be deleted because of having a hyperlink to my webpage as I merely try to inform and help.
God be with you

Which reminds me of the California Super Bowl ad that was recently criticized in the press. Apparently a prior Proposition forced the government to collect tax revenues aimed at stopping smoking in California. Some revenues were used to buy the super expensive super bowl ad and now the government is being criticized for wasteful spending. The point?
The Proposition process forced the generation of a tax that could only be spent doing things like buying this ad [it's part of the non-discretionary budget that voter-enacted Propositions tie the hands of the legislators with]. Don't blame the government for not spending the money wisely. Here the government is acting as the public;s agent. If the public does not like what the money was spent for, it should ask itself why it raised the money in the first place.
Also, recently it has been suggested that the rise of democratic movements in the Middle East should be credited to President Bush (II), who looks more and more like a democrat in the mold of Sir Winston Churchill. I'm not sure that is much of a compliment. Wasn't it Churchill who said "the clearest argument against democracy is a five minute conversation with the average voter."
I think the vote is still out, but if the Middle East moves further sideways, I'll be happy to remind people about credit due President Bush, and I also think Churchill's legacy will be quite safe - mostly because it is absurd to place the two in the same league.
